And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
John wept much because nobody was able to do something about this situation. Sometimes, we have troubles in our lives that are the same way. Our troubles just seem overwhelming, like there is nothing that can be done. We get very sad and discouraged because it seems like we are not able to do anything about it.
But, the message from the Lord, through the elder, in this verse, says Weep not.
He continued to say, behold..., which means, look
. This is the way that we can rejoice and have hope, despite seemingly hopeless, and overwhelmingly discouraging situations in our lives: It is by looking to Christ. It says that He has prevailed...
