[Shall] not their cattle and their substance and every beast of theirs [be] ours? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us.
Jacob's sons, (Dinah's brothers), Simeon and Levi, had come up with a plot against the people of Shalem, the city of Shechem. Hamor and his son Shechem used greed to lure the people of the city into consenting to Simeon and Levi's plan, because none of them know that it was a plot for their destruction. This is a good lesson to beware of covetousness and the destruction that it lures us into.
