But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
This chapter seems to talk about "walking with God": not sinning, knowing God, abiding in Him, having His love perfected in us, being in the light, knowing the truth, keeping His Holy Spirit abiding in us, and doing righteousness. Here is one way that we can do that, by keeping His Word.
v24Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
