Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
Instead of being unruly and vain talkers and deceivers
(v10), arguing with other people that we think are wrong, we should be in the Word so we can speak from it faithfully. That is the way to deal with sinful people.
