If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and [if] in the land of peace, [wherein] thou trustedst, [they wearied thee], then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?
When we have a hard time in our current situation, we should stand firm and not grow weary. The Lord may be preparing us for something in the future, maybe even harder. Maybe He's preparing us for the persecution at the end of the world.
If having a little trouble wears you out, in this nice gentle situation you have now, what are you going to do when there's real trouble?
