v1
O give thanks unto the LORD; for [he is] good: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.
Here's a way we can rejoice in the Lord. We can give Him thanks because of His mercy, which endures forever. He has given me great enduring mercy in my life by continuing to forgive really bad sins.
The rest of this Psalm continues to give reasons to rejoice in the Lord and thank Him, bringing up examples of His ever-enduring mercy. We can even thank Him for the great things He did in Bible times, because, even though it was long ago, it's still true and relevant.
