From part of v6b:
...he wrought [that which was] evil in the eyes of the LORD.
The king that this chapter tells about, didn't follow the Lord so well.
He has miserable consequences for his sin.
We keep being tempted to do things we've already known are bad things to do. We need to remember that it's just not worth it to do evil.
