These sought their register [among] those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.There were some priests that had descended from the wrong kind of ancestors. They had to be kicked out of being priests because they were "polluted".
We miss out on the rewards of righteousness by being polluted. One way to keep from being polluted is to make sure that the thoughts we think are pure.
